After the Soongsilians’ victory in the recent university debate competition, SSU’s Electrical Engineering students bagged the grand prize in the 16th FIRA World RoboWorld Cup & Congress 2011. This was made possible by the winning students’ talents and passion, and by their advisor’s exemplary leadership.
The 16th FIRA World RoboWorld Cup & Congress 2011 was held in Taiwan, Kaohsiung on August 26-30. ROBOTICS of the Electrical Engineering Department’s Robot Study Society won first place in the attack category, second place in the formation category, first place in the defense category, and second place in the game category. It was also declared the overall winner. The countries that participated in the competition, aside from South Korea, were China, Taiwan, and Mexico, and nine teams contended for victory.
When he accepted the award on behalf of the department, the dean of the Electric Engineering Department thanked the professors and ROBOTICS students, “who worked hard to win in the competition.” He also said, “We will try our best to further showcase SSU’s excellence.”
Meanwhile, last September 7, the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, which extends assistance to university clubs, decided to extend assistance to ROBOTICS. As such, ROBOTICS can reach even greater heights after winning in the aforementioned prestigious competition.
