Career Development Center helps students find jobs that they will enjoy, and make life plans. It also offers practical programs that will prepare the students for getting a job, such as Job Interview Clinic and Resume Clinic. Considering its tasks, most of its programs are for juniors and seniors rather than for freshmen and sophomores. The manager of Career Development Center recommends that the Soongsilians come up with a career plan as early as in their sophomore year. He believes, however, that the students shouldn’t be pressured to come up with a perfect or elaborate career plan. Additionally, he believes that it’s not good for the students to decide to get a job in a particular company, and that it’s better for them to make more general plans like getting a job in marketing or that’s related to finance. Moreover, he believes that instead of pursuing work only in large companies, the students should set aside time to think about the kind of job that will make them happy. He likewise advises the students not only to plan their career but also to concentrate on their studies to achieve the goals they have set. This notwithstanding, he believes that students should not only study but should also gather diverse experiences, which will enable them to consider many things and will enhance their personal value. Through these, “well-prepared” students will emerge. After this, the students can get help from Career Development Center more effectively and directly, with its practical programs. Finally, the center’s manager emphasized that merely visiting Career Development Center and getting job or career-related information from it will not ensure success in getting a job, and that the most important and crucial strategy for getting a job is aggressively and actively preparing for one’s career.
