A mental health campaign was held in SSU on May 2. The purpose of the campaign, hosted by Dongjak-gu Community Mental Health Center, was to remind the university students about the problems of mental and physical health, and helping them solve these. The participants first had to take a self-examination about depression, stress, and alcohol dependence, then they had to talk with the counselor based on the results of their self-examination. The health center also prepared physical health campaigns such as anti-smoking, anti-obesity, and nutrition campaigns. All of these were very funny because the participants experienced something related to each section. For example, the participants could experience drunk driving by putting on a pair of goggles. The goggles would make them feel dizzy, as if they’re drunk,so they wouldn’t be able to walk straight. Also, the campaign participants could take home some presents. ST interviewed some students who participated in the campaign, to find out what their impressions of the campaign are. They said, “I felt happy because I learned that I’m very healthy, and I had fun because I experienced many things. I felt that something was missing, though, because they did not give me professional answers to my questions.” Meanwhile, the mental health campaign hosted by Dongjak-gu Community Mental Health Center will be held again next semester.
