The yearly Freshmen Parents’ Conference was held on April 27 at the SSU campus. The ceremony was organized by Baird University College. The conference, which was intended for the parents of the new undergraduates, consisted of two parts: school introduction and meetings with the professors of each department. The parents who signed up for the event obtained information about SSU’s education system, volunteer programs, prize records, etc.
Before the actual ceremony, a campus tour was held for those who applied for it. Led by the school ambassador MISOs, the parents went around and took a look at the place where their children would study. They then took their seats in Han Kyung-chik Memorial Hall, and the ceremony began with an opening performance from the Mandolin Orchestra. The school promotion video screening, introduction of the dean of each school, and presentations about SSU’s education system followed as the first part of the event. For the second part, the parents were divided and were made to go to the lecture rooms designated for the different departments and colleges. They then met the professors, and had dinner and meetings with them concerning their children’s career planning.
The mother of a student (Ga Seo-jin, Global Media, 13), Lee Eun-young, attended the ceremony and was interviewed by ST. She said that she was happy to get to know about the school she enrolled her child in, and her trust and confidence in SSU became greater.
