A seminar for future young businesspeople was held on June 13 at Baird Hall. This event was organized by SSU’s Start-up Assistance Team. Kim Gayoung, a female representative from KukdeTopokki and Sang-Sang Agricultural Distribution, delivered a special lecture on a farmer CEO’s creative spirit. She set up the business through
SSU ten years ago, but the business unfortunately failed. Thanks to her indefatigable spirit and tireless efforts, however, she finally succeeded in her business. CEO Kim stressed that to become successful, you must stretch your patience. She added that it is crucial to come up with a vision and to cultivate your abilities. She encouraged the Soongsilians to begin a business before they leave the university because the public is likely to be more generous with university students. There are two things that she considers the top priorities for entrepreneurs: leaders have to place people with the right talents in the right positions and let them demonstrate their talents, and leaders
have to create something new to replace something that’s existing. In addition, CEO Kim suggested that starting entrepreneurs should consider five factors: attractiveness to persuade other people, ability to connect time with space, sincerity, colleagues who will always support them, and struggles, which are the privileges of youth. She concluded the seminar by saying, “Be unique rather than the best!” This means that if you think that you’re the best person on the face of the earth, you will consider other people trivial. Therefore, it is much more important to seek individuality instead of supremacy.
