On 10 October, SSU held its 121st anniversary worship service at Reverend Han Kyungchik Memorial Hall. Under the title, “From dirt to life,” Pastor Kim Un-sung said he is hoping SSU will continue to participate in a holy advocacy to breathe life into the dead dirt.
President Hwang Jun-seong said SSU is in the new era of development and progress. He asked for everyone’s active cooperation and support in building a new, unified Korea and in spearheading the reconstruction of the Pyongyang campus as a leading university toward the unification of Korea.
Also, he expressed his gratitude to all SSU families for making its 121st anniversary celebration possible. He requested everyone to move forward with him vigorously as SSU undergoes renovation and development. After his commemorative speech, he awarded 43 teaching staff members for their long service at SSU. Then, the president of the alumni association, Shim Young-bok, said he wished everyone to be united and share in the destiny of a specific blueprint for a definite vision and future of SSU. Furthermore, he wished that this era would usher in another 120 years of dynamism that all future Soongsilians could look back on with fondness.
