I still vividly remember the start of the semester when we handed out pamphlets and hung posters for new recruitment. At that time, I had a lingering anxiety about whether I can successfully carry out my job as Editor-in Chief, but now it’s already the last month of the year. Time flew so fast. Whether I’ve done a good job or not throughout the year, I am satisfied that at least didn’t make any big mistake. Right now, at the moment where all 4 magazines of The Soongsil Times had been published, I feel glad that I am finally free from work! However, I can’t help but feel a bit of sadness that it’s really over as well as regret on things that I could have done much better. I think it would be the same for everyone involved in the magazine. The end of the year invariably leaves a weird feeling. Half satisfied that we had managed to endure another year, and half regretful while thinking back on whether we had really spent a meaningful year for ourselves. However, time that passed is never to return, so let’s leave only the good memory and hustle for the last month of the year.

The 176th issue of The Soongsil Times that comes out in December deals with diverse topics from the latest social issues like conscientious objectors to entertaining topics including art and hobbies. The cover story is centered on the rise of new media such as Youtube and Netflix. Until the last several years, TV was the main medium for watching news and programs. However, with the development of smartphones and online platform, the way people enjoy media has changed. People no longer wait on the couch at home to watch favorite programs. People can now enjoy tons of different contents anytime, anywhere through smartphones and computers. Also, the trend as to what form of media people prefer has changed. People, especially the young generation, are more accustomed to snack culture nowadays. Snack culture is where rather than watching an hour-long program, people prefer to watch contents with only the core idea lasting between 5 to 15 minutes. They turn their smart phones on when they have spare time like before going to bed or moving around and basically watch videos whenever they want, wherever they are. For more information, don’t hesitate and take a look inside.

Finally, I wish everyone to fully enjoy the last month of 2018. We are confident our magazine can fulfill your curiosity and present you with quality contents.
