On March 22, the members of PyongyangSoongsil Committee for Reconstruction Promotion met for the first time this year at the Baird Hall of SSU. As the name suggests, the committee, which was formed in October 2018, aims to promote the restoration of Pyongyang’s Soongsil and to exchange projects with the North. Its members include faculty members at the main school, corporate directors, and the president of the student council. The committee also aims to rebuild the site of SSU in Pyongyang.
The first meeting and discussed and shared with each other the vision for the project to promote the reconstruction of Pyongyang. “We are planning to push for a ‘Gyeong Pyong game (a soccer match between Gyeongseong and Pyongyang)’ with Kim Hyong-jik University of Education in the second half of this year,” said Woo Jae-won, president of the student council. The venue will be Seoul or Jeju Island, and the project will be the first step toward exchange projects in the future,” he added.
