From November 26 to November 30, the College of Law held the ‘Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition East Asian Regional Rounds 2019-2020’ under the theme, ‘Reintroduction of Bears’.
The ‘Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition’ is a world-renowned international mock trial contest. The competition is held every year at Stetson University in Florida, U.S.A. Teams that have been pre-qualified in the different regions of the world will participate to compete for their qualifications as lawyers, and develop their legal thinking skills and knowledge on international environmental laws.
Since hosting the 1st Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition East Asian Regional Rounds in 2012, the College of Law has hosted the annual East Asian Regional Rounds with teams from various countries as well as East Asian countries for eight years. Lim Sang-hyeok, the professor from the Department of International Legal Affairs and chair of this competition, said, “Our biggest achievement so far is hosting the prestigious East Asian Moot Court competition, expanding SSU’s status as well as the international horizons of our students. Also, it is of great significance that the international mock trial contest, in which teams go through regional preliminaries and use international environmental laws as a medium, provides students with opportunities for international exchange.”
