The Korea Christian Culture Institute (Director Jang Kyung-nam) held the first colloquium in 2020 with the theme, ‘Christianity and Modernity in the Age of Colony.’
A colloquium is similar to a seminar, but it is different from a seminar in the sense that it invites an authoritative expert to correct other people’s immature opinions. A colloquium is a method of discussion that is widely used by universities and academic organizations.
In this academic event, they reviewed and discussed the modernity features of Christian forms, which were embodied by Protestant missionaries who worked in Joseon during the colonial period, from a self-help ethics and capitalist perspective.
The second colloquium invited Dr. Lee Sang-chul, director of the Christian Academy, to speak about the topic, ‘Is Korean Protestantism truly far-right?,’ from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the meeting room of the Genesis Hall No. 605.
