SSU received a ‘great’ evaluation in the phase assessment of the ‘Software-centered University Project.’ This process began in 2015 with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT. It aims to cultivate SW(software) professionals and convergence talents in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Moreover, based on policy coordination, the spectrum of education has been expanded to include the AI(artificial intelligence) field to cultivate convergence talents who are proficient in both SW and AI fields. SSU was selected in the first half of 2018. SSU received 6.6 billion won from SW-centered university businesses in 2021 and would be receiving a total of 10.6 billion won until 2023.
SSU established the SPARTAN SW education institute (directly under the president) to manage the education system. SW majors in colleges include Computer Science & Engineering, software, AI Convergence, and Global Media. For these colleges, the major curriculum has been strengthened to meet corporate demands and is oriented in a way to nurture SW professional talents. SSU is also implementing SW convergence education. Furthermore, they designated affiliation-tailored liberal subjects, and expanded the SW convergence/related major system. For non-majors, the SW basic education, including bridge courses, is provided. Moreover, for prospective freshmen, there is SW education, such as preliminary university (basic computer programming).
‘Software@Everywhere’ is the business vision of SSU. Still, the final goal is to cultivate SW convergence leaders of the future. The real value of SW will be realized by such talents.
