The HK+ (Humanities Korea Plus) project team at SSU Institute for Korean Christianity Culture has published a series of works titled Religion and Science Meet in East Asia. SSU HK+ Project Group has its roots in the Institute for Korean Christianity Culture, which was established in 1967, and in the Christian Society Research Institute, which was established in 1986. In 2018, it was selected as a research institute to carry out the Humanities Korea Plus project that was supported by the Ministry of Education and selected by the National Research Foundation of Korea for seven years.
Religion and Science Meet in East Asia contains the meeting of Confucianism and science, the meeting of religion and science, and the meeting of the church and the theory of evolution: leading to the mutual metamorphosis of the church and its history and prospects. The authors include Professor Seong Shin-hyung, Professor Seol Choong-soo, and Professor Lee Yong-joo of the SSU. The series examines how religion and discourse met in East Asia, with emphasis on the kind of transformation and effect they had on each other. The SSU HK+ Project Team is studying the process of modernization in Korea, particularly in the historical upheaval of colonization and division since the opening of the port at the cultural level and is publishing the planned series in four areas: Metamorphosis Humanities Series, Metamorphosis Translation Series, Metamorphosis Data Series, and Metamorphosis Liberal Arts Library.
The digital archive of the SSU HK+ Project Group website contains photos and documents from the past. Furthermore, academic activities, such as monthly presentations, academic conferences, and forums, are ongoing.
