Soongsil Institute for Peaceful Unification (SSIPU) was established in 2014 as a leading institution in this field, along with the responsibility to heal the pain of national division and achieve peaceful unification. SSIPU is actively conducting in-depth analysis and academic exchange activities on the unification of the Korean Peninsula, by focusing on domestic and foreign academic conferences, comments, and forums. Seo Moon-ki, head of SSIPU, aims to establish the institute’s identity and development goal by aiming for Korea‘s best unification platform under the vision, ”Unification to Integration: Global Hub for Peace and Unification Research on the Korean Peninsula.”
Currently, the research organized by SSIPU includes the Soongsil Peace Forum and the Peace and Unification Review. Moreover, the North Korean Urban Research Group in the institute analyzes North Korea‘s role, which we did not usually know well, through the North Korean Urban Brief and the Peaceful Unification Review. At the same time as a publishing academic journal, it is strengthening its position by hosting academic conferences related to inter-Korea relations and peaceful unification in SSU. It is intended to have a continuous influence on the development of the global topography, including the Korean Peninsula in terms of research, policy, and education on unification.
