The results of the ‘SSU Educational Research Facility New Design and Supervision Contest’ were released. The design camp, DMP Company, was selected as the best winning design for a general architectural office.
The current campus has a stark impression because its depth is narrow from the southern road, and the connection between external spaces is weak. To compensate for this, the axis from the main gate to the entry square and the central library was emphasized to utilize the hierarchy in the direction of the slope, and the depth of the external landscape was formed through the connection between the entry square (SSU Park) and the central square. First, it is possible to connect and integrate with the campus by efficiently arranging the movement of various users through the slope and arranging lecture facilities and research facilities with industry-academic cooperation groups and upper layers. Various programs can coexist within this connection of vertical spaces.
Furthermore, they are planning to create a three-dimensional space by creating a wider square area and stacking the space with horizontally divided buildings. On the fourth floor of the building behind the SSU park, they are planning to create a campus platform that promotes exchange and cooperation. On the fifth floor, there is a laboratory that will use modules that are optimized for functionality, a restaurant with a view of the campus on the sixth floor, and a banquet hall with a space outside the rooftop on the seventh floor.
Such construction is expected to be completed in 2028. It is planned to take two more years for the design and various licensing procedures, and another two years to select and negotiate with the construction company. After this construction, expect a new look of the SSU campus.
