The First Invention Competition was Held
The First Soongsil Invention Competition was held on July 16th. The purpose of this Competition is to bring up human power in industrial technology development and to promote creative ventures. The Center for Small Business Incubation of the Foundation for University Industry Cooperation in SSU was in charge of this Competition and it was supported by the Small and Medium Business Administration.
Students, faculty, researchers and assistant professors in SSU could take part in this competition. 14 team gave presentations on July 16th in Center for Small Business Incubator Room No.311. Every team had creative inventions. The person who stood first is Kim Young-nam (College of Information Technology.) His invention is a separate collection can for recycled garbage. It can be folded so it does not occupy much space. Judges set a high value on his invention also because it is generally used by many apartment complex. Kwon Jae-yoon (Industrial and Information System Engineering) held the second rank with presentation named ‘Input Device with New Input Instrument.’ Lee Hyung-min(Electrical Engineering) and Jo Sung-won(Computing) also got a prize.
Han Young-jun, the professor of College of Information Technology, said “I was really surprised by Soongsilians' passionate mind for invention, and we all need to think something creative in our mind at all times.” The prizewinning invention will be exhibited during the period of SSU Festival. The 2nd Invention Competition will be held on May, 2008.
