Last January 2, the opening ceremony for the year was held at the Kim Deok-yoon Chapel in Han Kyung-chik Memorial Hall, SSU. There were about 200 people including president of SSU and Vice President for Educational Affairs. Head of the Office of Chaplain, Kim Hoe-gwon, led the worship. He preached to the people about “Progressive SSU and Leaping SSU.” He said, “When we look up to Jehovah, our steps will be as vigorous as an eagle’s flight and we will not be tired out because SSU was built through the will of the Almighty God.”

In New Year’s address, SSU President Hahn Hern-soo said, “This year marks the 60th anniversary in Seoul and this year is the year of horse, which is our symbol. Last year, we achieved a lot of good records. I am grateful to you for that. I hope this year will be a dynamic year for you with SSU!” After the worship, all those present exchanged New Year’s greetings and shared well-wishing remarks in a circle.
