The 120th History Compilation Committee of SSU published “Pyongyang Soongsil in Photographs and Annals” in celebration of the 120th anniversary of the school in October.

It was compiled in chronological order, from the school’s foundation in October 1897 to its closing in March 1938. It was mentioned in contemporary newspapers, magazines, documents of the Japanese Government General in Korea, missionaries’ records, and other published materials. The compilation includes the history of Pyongyang Soongsil, which pioneered college education in Korea. The main contents include the history of the school, various changes in the educational facilities, an undergraduate administration, professor and student activities, and a racial movement. It contains more than 290 pictures that readers can relate to easily.

The editing chairman, Kwon Young-guk, said, “‘Pyongyang Soongsil in Photographs and Annals’ is a simple diary that documents the history of Soongsil through photos.” Moreover, he added that Soongsilians will have the opportunity to experience Pyongyang Soongsil on a daily basis through this book in the format of an old diary.
