Registered Cultural Property No. 755 in SSU

 On June 5, 2019, Calligraphies by Cabinet Members of the Korean Provisional Government, the head of the Christian Museum of Korea, was designated as Registered Cultural Property No. 755. This was written on November 4, 1945, a day before returning to Korea, in Chongqing, China, where 23 figures including Kim Gu and Lee Si-young recorded their feelings and aspirations for Korea’s independence.

 Kim Gu wrote, “I take on all kinds of changes by not changing,” while Lee Si-young wrote, “Only the soul moves the sky, and the utmost sincerity moves God.” They are also expressed their gratitude for the liberation of homeland. According to Hwang Min-ho, director of the Christian Museum of Korea, the calligraphies contain the meaning of the temporary government factors for the construction of a new country where words such as grand unity, independence and freedom were used to secure independence, also it is valuable to look at the consciousness and ideas of figures with important positions in modern history.

 The museum is one of Korea’s leading Christian museums, and houses 6,769 artifacts, including the National Treasure No. 231, Bronze Age Moulds from Yeongam (Presumed), Treasure No. 569 Calligraphy by An Jung-geun, and the Treasure No. 883 Terrestrial Globe.
