On May 30 at the Office of the President, the royalties from the textbook, “Modern Man & the Bible,” which is used in mandatory liberal arts in SSU, appeared as university development fund. The book was sold for 10,000 won, and 420 million won was donated in total. Today, the Dean of Chaplaincy said that he would be glad if the donation fund is used in school development and in enhancing the Soongsilian curriculum. Furthermore, Hwang Jun-seong, the university president, also appreciated the efforts of the professors because the “Modern Man & the Bible” lecture and textbook was used to teach that SSU is a Christian university, and gave Soongsilians a chance to learn about SSU itself.

The “Modern Man & the Bible” lecture is a mandatory liberal arts program that has given three credits to freshmen since 2006 to preserve the identity of the Christian university. This textbook was used in the lecture for 2018 freshmen. Moreover, the purpose of this book was to help Soongsilians understand the basis of Christian religious beliefs and the Bible.

“Modern Man & the Bible” was sold out during the last three semesters. For the next semester, a revised edition will be used during the lecture.
