The Registration of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea’s Documents in SSU as a National Cultural Heritage
On 12 September, the ‘Celebration of the Establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea’ and the ‘Declaration’ held by the Korean Christian Museum at SSU were registered as national cultural heritage. The documents were donated to SSU by Professor Kim Yang-sun in 1967 and revealed to the world.
‘Celebration of the Establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea’ is a leaflet printed by the 30th Korean National Congress on 31 October 1919. It celebrated the establishment of the Provisional Government, announced the formation of the Unification Cabinet. The 'Declaration' is a document released on the same day in Shanghai, China. It consists of a statement and three pledges calling for national unity and the complete and absolute independence of the Republic of Korea.
The ‘Congratulatory Letter and Declaration of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea’ is considered a valuable document that can confirm the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. The Korean Christian Museum at SSU has pledged to continue its own efforts to preserve and manage these artefacts so that people can deeply understand the historical value and significance of the independence movement.
