Alumni Share Career Insights at 2025 SSU Mentoring Program
From July 7 to August 8, SSU hosted the 2025 SSU Alumni Mentoring Program, connecting current students and recent graduates with alumni who are now active professionals across a range of industries. The program featured alumni working in fields such as research, engineering, IT(Information Technology) and software development, sales, marketing, finance, and accounting. They shared valuable insights into their real-world experiences, including extracurricular activities, certification processes, work environments, job satisfaction, and future career plans.
Held in a hybrid format, the sessions lasted about two hours each. The online portion included alumni presentations followed by a Q&A session, while the offline sessions featured a panel talk show and small group mentoring, allowing for more interactive and personal conversations.
During the talk show, the alumni emphasized the importance of gaining hands-on experience related to their respective fields, as well as developing strong problem-solving skills. They also mentioned that during their own job searches, reaching out directly to professionals and actively seeking information helped them navigate uncertainty and confusion. One mentor currently working in marketing offered encouraging advice, saying, “Don’t be intimidated. Even if your peers seem to have impressive résumés, there are very few people who truly have solid skills and a clear personal philosophy.” Mentor’s words reassured many students, urging them to focus on building their own strengths and direction with confidence.
