SSU Major in Film Arts Hosts 6th 'University Acting Battle' with Kookmin University

On July 25th, the ‘University Acting Battle 2025: SSU vs Kookmin University’ hosted by the SSU Major in Film Arts concluded successfully. ‘University Acting Battle’ is an annual event where SSU collaborates with a different university each year, providing a platform for students from both schools to showcase their acting skills. Despite the word ‘battle’ in its title, the event does not declare winners or losers. Instead, it emphasizes practical experience with feedback from key industry figures including production companies, managements, directors, and actors. This event has positioned itself as a rare opportunity for students to demonstrate their presence in front of industry professionals.
This year’s event featured a total of 30 teams with 60 participants performing in pairs, presenting heated competition through their acting performances. The event was held at the Blue Cube on the first floor of SSU Student Union and operated as a private event accessible only to participants and judges. However, external viewing was available through live streaming provided by the SSU Major in Film Arts YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, the SSU Major in Film Arts is actively pursuing significant external projects beyond the acting battle, including collaborating with domestic OTT(Over-the-top) platform ‘Watcha’ to release student short films. The future endeavors of the SSU Major in Film Arts, which continues to expand such practice-oriented educational programs, are also highly anticipated.
