Professor Jung Su-hwan of the School of Electronic Engineering has been selected for the “2025 National R&D Top 100 Achievements.” The awarded achievement is titled “Development and Commercialization of a WorldClass Real-Time Deepfake Voice Detection Technology.”
Professor Jung was recognized for developing a general-purpose detection model capable of responding to a wide range of deepfake generation techniques, rather than being limited to a single method. The technology has been implemented as a realtime system that operates on both web and mobile platforms, demonstrating practical applicability in real-world environments. After verification through pilot projects with domestic institutions, the technology led to a technology transfer agreement and was validated for stability and usability in operational settings. The model architecture and performance enhancement strategies were accepted at the Association for Computing Machinery Conference on Computer and Communications Security 2024, earning global recognition for its technical excellence. The research team also built and publicly released the deepfake voice dataset “the Deepfake Speech Detection corpus,” designed to address the limitations of existing datasets.
Professor Jung stated that his team plans to expand beyond deepfake voice detection to develop integrated AI voice security technologies, contributing to the strengthening of Korea's competitiveness in the field of voice security.
