It was a dark and rainy night, but the rains could not dampen the people’s excitement. However, at 8 p.m on May 2nd, a concert was about to be held by a legend from an English band that was widely famous in the 1960s. Around 45,000 people gathered at the Jamsil Sports Complex Main Stadium, with unbearable excitement and exceedingly high expectations. The visiting legend was Paul McCartney of The Beatles. Paul McCartney had finally arrived and was about to deliver his firstever live performance in South Korea.
Paul McCartney’s performance was without a doubt the best ever. He showed his 45,000 fans gathered at the stadium why he was called a “legend.” Although there were only three guitarists (including Paul McCartney himself), a drummer, and a keyboardist in the live concert, and although there were no special effects or choruses, they were able to deliver an outstanding performance. The only change that the audience witnessed throughout the whole concert was Paul McCartney’s changing of his guitar to get the best sound for each song. It was unbelievable that with only five people, such depth of music could be made, and that many feelings could be evoked. Also, Paul McCartney’s voice was sensationally clear and had such depth that it was hard to believe that he was already in the seventies. Not only was he singing unbelievably well; he also let out a “shout” that filled the air and heated the whole stadium. With the crowd shouting back, it was a scene that would be hard to forget.
However, the best part was still to come. When the world’s most popular songs “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude” were sung, the whole stadium sung along. Every fan in the stadium was in ecstasy, and everyone sang with McCartney. It was another great scene that no one will ever forget. When the famous “Hey Jude~” part of the same-titled song came, everyone shouted out the words as loud as they could. After the song ended, everyone in the stadium started to yell for an encore which the legend replied with several more songs including another famous song ‘Yesterday’. It was a tremendous sight, and the scene was spread via SNS. Even the pouring rain was not enough to cool down the heat of the concert.
Paul McCartney’s first performance in South Korea was a huge success. The rains felt as though blessings were being poured over the huge stadium. The fireworks were brilliant, and the lights that spread out from the stage were also a spectacle to behold.Paul McCartney’s short phrases explaining his songs were also easy to understand. Two hours and 40 minutes of non-stop performance with 37 masterpieces blew the audiences’ minds away. Also, Paul McCartney’s last words “Dashi mannayo (See you again)” were enough to make everyone roar in reply and find hope that they might see the legend in this country once again.
