After years of remote events, the SSU’s preparatory training for freshmen has finally returned in the form of face-to-face meetings. Last year, most universities in Korea used a HyFlex method because of the risk of the spread of COVID-19 and the ban on any gathering of 299 or more people in large-scale events, such as a wedding. But as the COVID-19 situation has subsided glaringly obvious, many universities have conducted face-to-face classes, and they have also held face-to-face preparatory training for freshmen. training for freshmen this year.
Most four-year universities in Seoul, including Kyung Hee University, Sungkyunkwan University, and Ewha Womans University, conducted face-to-face preparatory training for freshmen. Similarly, in the case of SSU, which conducted face-to-face programs, the dates of the programs vary, depending on the department. Most of them were conducted at the end of February, and the department prepared various programs in the training. For example, the humanities department of SSU hosted safety education, drinking education, recreation, and community performances for freshmen.
Since face-to-face activities can unite students more than remote activities, they make them feel a strong sense of belonging, and build up more pleasant and precious memories from college life. In addition to programs for freshmen, ST hopes that MT (Membership Training), festivals, and class programs that have been stagnant will be more actively implemented face-to-face in the future
