There are some cafes around SSU where you can spend time in your break time. ST went there foryou o introduce...Ed.

Chilly weather makes us think of a warm cup of tea. Fragrant coffee helps us get rid of stress. Also it improves learning ability by awakening us from drowsiness, and has memory-enhancing ability. ST is going to introduce cafes around SSU to students who like places for shooting the breeze in a tranquil

atmosphere, or are tired of studying in a lecture room or library.

Hanuel hyangi

ST is going to introduce cafe which isn’'t well known yet, but located near at SSU but ‘Hanuel hyangi’', korean for ‘sky scent’, is located behind of playground of SSU, on the first floor of the Sangdo central church jonghabgwan. ‘Hanuel hyangi’ serves coffees, herb teas, fresh fruit juices and the other beverages. All drinks have an inexpensive cost range from 1,000 won to 2500 won. On weekends, the cafe offers more discounts than weekdays(500 won ~ 1,000 won). Snacks and meals are not for sale. But if you feel little bit hungry then you can use the toaster and enjoy a loaf of warm bread provided for free. The environment of the ‘Hanuel hyangi’ is bright and neat. Tables are quite wide and sofas are comfortable. They are arranged large enough, and there is free wireless internet available. Therefore, it seems suitable for study or preparation for an exam. You may feel inconvenienced from serving yourself and the atmosphere is little bit noisy. However, concerning the price and quality, ‘Hanuel hyangi’ is  recommendable. Proceeds from its sales will be donated to the unfortunate neighbors. You can enjoy not only coffee but also delight of distribution. ‘Hanuel hyangi’ is open from 11 am to 9 pm.

Antique

‘Antique’ is located in front of the new front gate of SSU. At first, ‘Antique’ looks so shabby on the exterior, and it seems like specializing in alcoholic beverages only. But when we enter the cafe, its neat and tidy interior surprised us. In contrast with first impression, there are various kind of teas, coffees and juices. Particularly, ‘Antique’ has variety of black tea. If you like black tea, please visit the ‘Antique.’ Its atmosphere is calm and restful because its main customers are school personnel and neighbors rather than soongsilians. The pretty hostess also joined ‘a SSU aid association’. ‘Antique’ boasts a menu of various black tea; For example, earl grey, dazzling and some fruity black tea. Specially, raspberry black tea is fragrant and its color is beautiful. Also ‘Antique’ sells cocktails, western liquors, wines, and so on. When people order a cocktail, a snack is served. Different from the many other cafes, ‘Antique’ sells meals such as jajang rice and curry rice. when you go to the ‘Antique’, please look at the business hours(PM5:30 ~ AM2:00) because it stays open late.

O'deli

Cafe ‘O’deli’ located near the inner gate is usually crowded with people in the waiting line. Visitors are warmly welcomed by sweet and buttery aromas. This quite small place was filled with various charming accessories. Paintings on the wall and small dolls make a harmony. These all were decorated by the owner of ‘O’deli’. Not only beverages such as coffees, ades and juices, also light snacks such as waffles and bagel sandwiches are served. The sets that come with sandwich and milk or juice are proper for a meal. The cafe is famous for its waffles for 1000 won. Waffles, made up with crispy bread with soft whipped cream and sweet syrup have been a favorite of women. The others recommendations include brewed coffee which has a deep and rich aroma, and cherry hot chocolate of rare favor. It is provided with some magazines and a computer. Printing is also available for free. It is often visited by Soongsilians. ‘O’deli’ is not quite spacious. There are only sitting tables. So is not adequate for a large group or staying a long time. You should rather visit with small members. ‘O’deli’ is open from 10 am to 10 pm.

GURS

‘GURS’ means ‘Good’. in the German dialect. It is located behind the Hyung Nam Engineering Building. Its price range: from 3,000won to 4,000won. This price is reasonable because soongsilians are GURS’s customers. When people order a beverage, a cracker is served. ‘GURS’ also sells toast and

pieces of cake which are suitable as a substitute breakfast. There are many different coffees and teas but few kinds of cocktails. And it is so difficult to find the washroom because it is outside of the building. ‘GURS’ boasts a menu of parfaits, shakes and caffe mochas. Parfait is popular with female students because it is large in quantity and delicious looking. The shake is cold and it comes in four flavors; strawberry, choco, mocha and vanilla. Caffe mocha is popular with the people who dislike the bitter taste of coffee. Its pieces of cake are imported by hostess and especially cheese cakes taste good! Cake comes in two flavors; Philadelphia and New York. The former features a faint taste of cheese and the latter  features a smooth and rich taste of cheese. If you are planning to visit ‘GURS’, I’d like to recommend a special beverage like cream cola or kahlua cola.

IL BOSCO

‘IL BOSCO’ means ‘forest’ in Italian. ‘IL BOSCO’ is located opposite the post office. Its one side wall is made of glass, so it makes people feel refreshed. It is so interesting to see people through the glass. There are many books for people who feel bored and wide desks for students to study long hours peacefully. You can feel the hostess’s thoughtful consideration from this. Sometimes you can smell smoke because there is no seperation between the nonsmoking section and the smoking section. ‘IL BOSCO’ boasts a menu of Ogok smoothies and healthy teas. An Ogok smoothie is made with 12 kinds of grain, so it satisfies one’s hunger. Among the healthy teas, particularly ginger tea and jujube tea are handmade. They are good for health and make you refreshed. The hostess of ‘IL BOSCO’ has ‘barista education’, so you can taste basic and strong coffee. If you like brand coffee, watch for a chance ‘Time Discount’ when you go to the ‘IL BOSCO’. ‘Time Discount’ means ‘give a 500won Discount’ when people order brand coffee from 11am to 2pm. During this time, you can enjoy coffee at more reasonable price.
