Engaged Learning classes are those in which students actively participate in the learning process, take responsibility for their own learning, and acquire knowledge in various ways. This learning method encourages students not to simply accept information passively, but to solve problems, think critically, and actively engage in learning through cooperation with their peers. These Engaged Learning classes provide an atmosphere where basic local adaptation skills can be developed through direct participation in activities. Students can build a deeper understanding by asking questions and sharing opinions with one another. Through cooperative learning, they can experience teamwork and develop the ability to solve problems from various perspectives. However, these classes have spatial limitations and face challenges, as some aspects must be conducted virtually. Additionally, it can be difficult to generate interest since explanations are often conveyed only through words.

To encourage student participation in such a class, we intend to conduct lessons according to the students’ levels of understanding. Although the individual levels of students vary, I aim to explain the concepts at the average level of the class. This represents a significant departure from the traditional method of unilaterally delivering lectures without considering individual levels. As these classes progress, students often recognize gaps in their basic education, and feel the need for such foundational learning.

While conducting the Engaged Learning class, there were many positive aspects, but I believe there are still several shortcomings. It would be beneficial to establish an infrastructure that allows students to experience the field directly, and a curriculum that can develop basic learning skills.
