This summer, the SISF (Soongsil International Summer Friends) programme returned, giving students a unique opportunity to engage with peers from around the world. Designed to promote cultural exchange, it fostered friendships while encouraging language practice and global awareness.
SISF paired Soongsilians with international participants of the SISS (Soongsil International Summer School), which welcomed visitors from countries including the United States, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Turkey. These international students spent a month in Korea during the summer break, attending Korean language classes and experiencing local culture. Beyond the classroom, SSU offered a variety of cultural activities. Soongsilians, serving as ‘buddies’, accompanied international students as guides to popular destinations including Lotte World and Namsan Seoul Tower, and Gyeongbokgung Palace where participants enjoyed hanbok experiences. They also explored Han River cruises and picnics, as well as Jeonju Hanok Village, immersing themselves in Korea’s heritage. In addition, the programme featured LEP (Language Exchange Programme) sessions, allowing students to practice languages and share cultures in a more personal setting.
Held annually, SISF is open to all Soongsilans eager to broaden their horizons, make lifelong global friendships, and improve their language skills.
